Simple steps that subscribers can take to link their phone numbers with their National Identity Number (NIN)

Nigerian telecommunication service providers have announced simple steps that subscribers can take to link their phone numbers with their National Identity Number (NIN). It had been reported that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) mandated telcos in the country to block all SIM cards that are not registered with NIN within 2 weeks. This means that failure of the subscribers to update their registration records with operators with NIN will lead to the blocking or disconnection of the line by December 31, 2020, though there has been a huge public outcry about the sudden announcement of the policy and short time frame to implement it. The Nigerian Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has also directed that subscribers can link their NIN to more than one sim card. This can be done by taking their NIN to the office of their service providers.  According to WHO,  Key facts Every year, an estimated 15 million babies are born preterm (before 37 completed weeks of gestation), and this number is rising. Preterm birth complications are the leading cause of death among children under 5 years of age, responsible for approximately 1 million deaths in 2015 (1). Three-quarters of these deaths could be prevented with current, cost-effective interventions. Across 184 countries, the rate of preterm birth ranges from 5% to 18% of babies born. Preterm is defined as babies born alive before 37 weeks of pregnancy are completed. There are sub-categories of preterm birth, based on gestational age: extremely preterm (less than 28 weeks) very preterm (28 to 32 weeks) moderate to late preterm (32 to 37 weeks).   Troops clear bandits’ camps along Kaduna-Abuja expressway November 18, 2020 Commuters along the Kaduna-Abuja road can now heave sigh of relief as troops on Tuesday cleared identified bandits’camps around Kuku area of Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The Kaduna-Abuja expressway has become the epicenter of a kidnap ring that has made travelling on the route a nightmare. Scores of the bandits were killed in the operation conducted by the Air Component of Operation Thunder Strike.
